About Us

Little Phoenixes Foundation, Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit organization that began from a desire to make a difference in the lives of young children.  We are dedicated to encouraging youth to DREAM a bright future, empowering them to BELIEVE in their ability, and inspiring them to RISE above the challenges and circumstances they face. 

We use unique lesson plans as part of our STEAM Power program to ignite a desire for learning.  When we discuss skyscrapers, we teach our students they too can stand tall. When our students learn how planes fly, we want them to understand they too can reach great heights. When they learn about bridges, we want them to know they can endure loads while spanning from where they presently are to where they want to go.

Our programs are available to families who reside in low-income communities in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area.  Through partnership with other community organizations, we are able to provide after-school programs, mentoring, and summer enrichment opprotunities to neighborhoods in need.

Our Programs

Despite the commendable efforts to increase awareness and opportunity for children living in low-income communities to participate in STEM/STEAM programs, the gap between children of high income families and those who lack available resources who have programs readily available to them continues to grow. Through our programs, we are able to deliver quality science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) programs to them where they live; we are able to take STEAM to them.

Engineering

The art or science of making practical application of the knowledge of pure sciences, as physics or chemistry, as in the construction of engines, bridges, buildings, mines, ships, and chemical plants.

Arts

Subjects of study primarily concerned with human creativity and social life, such as languages, literature, and history (as contrasted with scientific or technical subjects)

Technonlogy

The branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of technical means and their interrelation with life, society, and the environment, drawing upon such subjects as industrial arts, engineering, applied science, and pure science.

Mathematics

The systematic treatment of magnitude, relationships between figures and forms, and relations between quantities expressed symbolically.
